The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) plans to revive the Sher-e-Bangla National Football Championship with all District Football Associations, universities and services team taking part in the meet from October.
“We are thinking of how to include the name of Sher-e-Bangla with the National Football Championship as it was once used with the championship and we are also considering how to keep both Sher-e-Bangla and sponsor name in the meet,” said BFF member Harun-ur Rashid on Thursday.
The BFF led by the then SA Sultan-Anwarul Haq Helal executive committee dropped the name of Sher-e-Bangla from the championship citing that the sponsors were not interest in sponsoring in the meet if the name of Sher-e-Bangla remained associated with the meet.
Rashid informed that they would organise the championship in two phases – league-basis preliminary round and knockout-basis finals and would get underway from October 1 and end before the start of B. League in November.
